Fetish Figure, Congo
The Kongo people refer to these figures as nkisi and they come in many different forms. The priest, also known as the nganga, would operate the nkisi and pass on its powers to others. The power of the nkisi was determined by what was attached to the figure, it could be used to protect people against sickness or spirits.
