Makenge Basket II, Zambia
New brides in Zambia are given a basket woven from the roots of the Makenge bush - this tradition spans centuries. Baskets are often handed down to the bride by her mother, the baskets are extremely durable and can be kept in a family for over 100 years. Each basket has a unique pattern and is decorated over time to reflect personal taste and tradition.
