Processional Cross, Ethiopia
The Amharic speaking people of Ethiopia are descendants of ancient East Africans and ancient immigrants from Arabia and Yemen. The Arabic influence in the form of decorative geometric designs is still evident in a lot of Ethiopian art. Ethiopia was the first nation to adopt Christianity as a state religion; AD305. The interwoven lines present in many of the crosses symbolize eternity. Ethiopian processional crosses are attached to the top of sticks on feast days and carried at the heads of parades.
